Puffing Billy Steam Train & Healesville Wildlife Day Tour Itinerary
The tour begins in Melbourne, where you will meet your informative and friendly tour guide who will take you a short drive east to the Dandenong Ranges. We’ll take a short break at Grants Picnic Reserve, which is located in Sherbrooke Forest. Here, you’ll have the chance to stroll through the incredible landscape, spotting vibrant native birds and other cute critters along the way. All of this is set against the impressive backdrop of jutting mountain ranges and tall mountain ash eucalyptus.
You will then get to see the Dandenong Ranges from a different point of view as we head to the station where the Puffing Billy steam train departs. During the ride, you’ll get to enjoy the vintage sounds and whistles as the train puffs its way through the stunning countryside. Don’t forget your camera, as we pass through beautiful scenery made up of rolling fields and lush forests – the perfect way to get a historic glimpse into Australia’s natural beauty.
From there, we’ll head north to the nearby Healesville Sanctuary Wildlife Park. You can see Australian wildlife up close as you explore the sanctuary, viewing Koalas, Tasmanian Devils and many more animals. The friendly staff will provide spectacular presentations and information about the diverse range of animals they care for as you make your way through the sanctuary.
After a full day of spectacular sights, we’ll head back to Melbourne where your scenic adventure comes to an end.
